Hey, bestie!
BTW, incase you forgot… we get to take our time.
And we can even soak up all the glimmers around us whilst we take our time.
Did you know that?
We really do get to take our time.
We don’t have to rush.
We don’t have to set goals… pick a word for the year… or make a vision board, like yesterday.
And yet… this can bring up discomfort.
Urgency.
A kind of stickiness in the body.
It used to be something I sat with quite often. And perhaps I still do feel it from time to time… even if it’s just a small sliver.
But in those sliver moments, it feels easier to acknowledge the glimmers of curiosity, beauty, and even unique mundaneness that can gently transform the sensation of urgency into presence instead.
At the same time, I find myself looking back on so many chapters of my life and remembering where the spikes of urgency, anxiousness, and uncertainty lived… and the discomfort of believing I was already behind… of living in a constant state of over-analyzing what should come next.
As this new month and new year have arrived, I’ve been wondering how to write my love letter to December without feeling this urge to look beyond, to what’s next.
December has often been a magical month for me.
In 2023, I dreamed up the idea for Possibilities Universe as a container for me to publish my card deck, and eventually grow it into a catalog of books, experiences, audios, workshops, tools that inspire and invite others to explore new possibilities for their lives too.
Last year, December held celebration for the completion of a successful Kickstarter campaign that brought the deck to life, along with design preparation for the expansion guide and permission slips that would be shared at my first solo design exhibition at the beginning of 2025.
And this year… December invited something different.
Time to wind down.
Space to listen.
A soft landing for new ideas and clearer visions to emerge… those without the tangibility of a physical thing to produce.
This time, I noticed different glimmers.
These glimmers… much like the shimmer of a spider web catching the light just right… or like the pulls in a favourite jumper… each one connected, even if the full pattern can’t yet be traced from start to end.
Perhaps what’s most different now is the knowing that there truly is time.
Time to notice the synchronicities weaving themselves together in ways we can’t ever really predict.
Time to create glimmers intentionally… simply by choosing, each day, to enjoy the simplest things rather than feeling the need to leverage them into an improvement plan.
What if we gave ourselves permission to be more present with what’s already working?
With what’s already happening?
With what’s already surrounding us?
What if we simply did that…
…over, and over again?
What could be possible then?
With love,
Lauren
